Film Scanning Services

Keystone’s scanning services converts aerial film negatives into high resolution scans for use in softcopy photogrammetric workstations. Three Leica DSW photogrammetric scanners give us the capacity to quickly turnaround large assignments, including the conversion of entire film archives to digital form.

Our Leica DSW 700 scanners are capable of producing a 12.5 micron color scan in 3.5 minutes and a 12.5 micron black and white scan in 1.5 minutes. When working with film rolls, Keystone's three scanners can generate over 50 high-quality color scans per hour and more than 100 black and white scans per hour. Keystone’s scanning department is capable of continuous operation and very large production volumes, helping our clients meet their delivery timeframes.

Keystone follows rigorous quality control workflows to assure high image quality. Before scanning, we visually inspect the film for dust, artifacts, and density. After any necessary cleaning, the film is then scanned inside a forced air, dust resistant clean room. The resulting scans are then inspected for radiometric quality.

Standard pixel size for scans range anywhere between 10 to 40 microns, and custom scanning at 6 microns is also available. Processed scans can be optionally dodged and output in a variety of formats including JPEG2000 and MrSID.
